Day 10

Hadrian's Wall, Vindolanda, Tour of York
I was very sad to leave the Lake District today. If I had to chose a place to return to out of all the ones on the tour, it would definitely be the Lake District. On the way to York, we followed a stretch of Hadrian's Wall and visited Vindolanda Roman Fort and Museum. Vindolanda is an active archaeological site. A few of our tour members were lucky enough to see a shoe being unearthed! The impressive museum displays the various artifacts found at the site. My favorite artifact was the writing tablets. It was interesting to see that humans haven't really changed much over time.
In York, we got settled into our rooms, then took a quick tour of the city before eating dinner together. Later, I dared to venture back out, alone, to take night shots of the city.

I would totally sport shoes like these found at the site! A truly timeless look.
