Day 12

Westminster Abbey

We boarded the train together, luggage and all, at York Station and arrived at King's Cross Station in London - safe and sound.  We got on the tour bus waiting for us outside the station and made our way through the congested streets to Westminster Abbey. We met up with Tom, another Rick Steves' tour guide, who took us on a fun and informative tour of Westminster Abbey.  That evening, I decided to see a show.  I went to the TKTS booth in Leicester Square with a few other people from our group.  There were no tickets for the show I wanted to see, Les Miserables. I remembered reading in the Rick Steves' guidebook that tickets were also sold at theater box offices, so that's where I went next - the Queen's Theatre box office. Tonite's show wasn't sold out!  I got an awesome seat close to the stage, smack-dab in the center.  With my ticket happily in hand, I went to eat dinner before the show.  I was seated next to another solo diner at the restaurant's bar, and we started chatting.  She ended up giving me a few suggestions for places she liked to eat at in London.  Now, I have a reason to return!
