Day 5

Stanway House, A Walk in the Cotswolds
With Stow-on-the-Wold as our base, we spent the entire day touring the Cotswolds. In the morning, we took a guided tour of Stanway House - where we saw an incredibly tall fountain and a working watermill, and learned to play a little cricket. We went on a stroll around Upper and Lower Slaughter in the afternoon. Back in Stow, I had time to see the door at the back of the church for myself by following the directions in the Rick Steves' guidebook. Very cool! Finally, we ate dinner at a pub in Chipping Campden where a local folk band played music for us to enjoy. As an impromptu surprise, a couple in our group got up and entertained us with a folk song, too!
